Carson McCullers Literary Award Winners

The Carson McCullers Literary Festival offers prizes for high school students in fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, expository essay, playwriting and screenwriting, with $300 for first place in each of those categories, $200 for second place, $100 for third place.

Prizes will also be awarded to CSU students, including the Sara Ayres Jordan Awards in fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction, as well as prizes in expository essay, playwriting and screenwriting, with $300 first place, $200 second place, $100 third place.

This Festival is a biennial event and will constitute a celebration of writing by high school students from around the state of Georgia and college students from Columbus State University. The prizes will be formally awarded at the Carson McCullers Literary Festival on Saturday, February 22, and will represent the culmination of a months-long series of free workshops and masterclasses at the Carson McCullers Center in which accomplished writers mentor student writers from around the state.

Limit one entry in each category per student


The culminating event will be an Awards Ceremony on Saturday, February 22, honoring the winners of student writing contests.
